Colder weather on the way
In South China, October brings bearable temperatures, while December and January freeze your toes off, due to the lack of central heating in residential buildings. So, what is one to do when the rain stops and the sun finally comes out? Wash sweaters and lay them out on the shrubbery to dry -- yes, the shrubbery.
Other news... my teaching schedule (one lecture class + eleven small group lessons) is perfectly insane and keeps me from blogging much. Next week, I'll be in Beijing for the annual MusicAcoustica conference. This conference in 2005 was the occasion for my first visit to China. It will be nice to see how it's progressed in six years. One of the organizers and I will prepare a new piece for the closing concert. That means, code development, code integration, testing and rehearsal in about one week. We're absolutely nuts to try to do this, but we'll put something compelling onstage for sure. The trick is all in setting a not-too-ambitious scope.
The other big news is that Jimmy and I are going separate ways, for the time being. Time to reevaluate, time to grow and change in ways we might not be able to do together. Hard decision and hard transition, best I can do at the moment. Who knows what the future brings?
Okay, back to work... the code for Beijing isn't going to write itself.
